Toys & Kids Black Friday
Updated October 1, 2026
Where to find toy sales in Toronto this Black Friday. Tracking deals at independent toy shops and major mall retailers.
Toy retail is dominated by the massive inventory requirements of the holiday season. The independent toy shops on the Danforth or in Leslieville cannot compete with the pricing at the big-box stores in the suburbs. However, they win entirely on curation, focusing on wooden educational toys, European board games, and high-quality plush.
If you need a specific, highly advertised plastic toy, you must brave the major malls. If you want sustainable, durable goods for children, the local shops run modest 10% to 15% promotions to reward early holiday shoppers.
FAQ
- Do local shops carry the major trending toys?
- Rarely. Independent shops focus on brands like Melissa & Doug or high-end European puzzles rather than licensed television characters.
- When do the independent toy shops sell out?
- Fast. Because they hold low inventory, popular wooden toys and board games are often gone by Saturday morning.
